I AM THAIS HVID
“I am a freelance dancer, teacher and choreographer, based in Denmark and working all around the world.
I love the nomadic lifestyle that comes with being a freelancer and I enjoy constantly engaging with new work, new ideas and new people, forcing me to look at my own ideas from different perspectives.
I constantly invent and engage myself with new projects and I like to obsess over these projects be it a new physical discipline, creative projects or a changing the way I think about the world around me.
I also enjoy the company of friends, drinking very good coffee, reading books and playing Playstation.”
“I perform with my body and I enjoy working with difficult, physical tasks.
I AM A PERFORMER
”My personal, physical practice is inspired by my background in Capoeira, Parkour and Contemporary Dance all of which I have been practising for over a decade.
I am constantly looking for ways to challenge myself, in dancing; by moving between more classical work and more experimental research and in physicality; by always digging into new disciplines. Currently I am studying Muay Thai and Olympic Weightlifting.”
I AM A TEACHER
”I set long term goals rather than short terms for my students but always strive to adapt my classes to the given students and situation based on my personal experience, academic studies in physiology and pain science, philosophy and my intuition.
I am interested in how practice shapes theory and vice versa.
“My pieces are cheeky collages of things I find beautiful, terrifying and funny.
“My teaching method is based more on principles than techniques and my classes are playful while physically demanding.
I AM A CHOREOGRAPHER
”My creations are always centered around the people I work with; who they think they are, who I think they are, where those two things meet and the situations that arise when trying to solve problems in a creation.
I like to present something familiar, everything from pop-culture references to political subjects, and then twist and bend it, to make people look at it in a different light”
